Understanding

What is understanding? Can the logical mind truly comprehend in full? Can it experience a feeling, an emotion, something that touches the feminine aspect, the Primordial Mother?

I feel that true understanding happens not in the mind, but in the whole being. It is not an intellectual grasp of a concept, but a deep knowing that resonates in every cell of your body. It is the difference between knowing the recipe for bread and having baked it a thousand times - between reading about love and having loved.

For years I taught, I explained, I intellectualized. I thought that if I could explain something clearly, I understood it. But true understanding is not found in the ability to explain. It is found in the ability to embody, to live, to be.

You can explain the taste of an orange to someone who has never eaten one. But they will never truly understand until they peel one, smell it, taste it, feel the juice on their lips.

Understanding is not a destination. It is a way of being.
